By all means you are welcome to build whatever costume you want so long as it has a Costume Reference Library (CRL) and we would be happy to help you along!

Our forums are a good place for resources within the garrison, but when building a costume usually it’s better to create build threads and read up on other builds in the detatchment specific forums for the costume you wish to build.

All troopers who are approved need to be aware of maintaining approval quality of their costumes.

Although approval means a costume does not need to be approved again with subsequent CRL updates (unless the costume owner has been retired from duty), costumes go through normal wear and tear and wearers also may change in shape and size.

To clear up some confusion on what constitutes a temporary approval.

1. Troopers costumes must be visibly accurate to the CRL no missing items or with approval from GMLs minor modifications required

2. Costume must have been submitted to the GML for approval with ample time prior to events for consideration.

My recommendation would be to create a build thread on the detatchment forums for the CRL you are following: they’ll have more information for that costume in general.

You’ll also be able to better look at the build process for the costume that others have done in their build threads.

If you can reach out to your previous garrison GMLs and have them transfer your membership to our garrison then we can go from there.

If you show as retired or so then we will need you to resubmit your costume and CRL to the GMLs.

Your best bet would be to follow the link in the CRL and join the spec ops detatchment and ask/look around there. They would know best because they are over that particular armor.

Just giving a heads up that any costume submissions will be on hold during the period of the 501st elections.

This will take place from January 30-February 20, 2022.

You may still submit costumes for approval, but we will not be able to approve or temp approve in this period of time.

I also can’t second Jason’s comment on 3D files enough.

I’ve been building a Din Djarin and had a couple of files that I gathered and after looking into things found they’d not be good for approval. Luckily I didn’t print them because the time and cost of filament does increase for mistakes.
