DESCRIPTION:What we will be doing: We will be helping launch the Darth Vader and Yoda Balloons every day (weather permitting) with the troopers of Bantha Canyon Base and Dewback Ridge Garrison (mandos and galactic academy from there are also visiting)\n\nChanging accommodations: At the caravan parking area at the field- typically we all park and change together after we have been in the park early morning to eat and play a bit in our civilian clothes. Water is provided by the balloon team and bathrooms are provided on site.\n\nHow will you know you will love this event: Do you like fancy fish balloons? DO YOU LIKE 4 AM CORNDOGS ?? Do you love going to gigantic world renowned and highly photographed/videoed events?? Do you like meeting new and awesome people from all over the world and troopers from multiple states? Then this is the troop for you!\n\n\nNotes: I will have a ton more info to come for all of you about how sign ups on the Bantha/Dewback forums work … But please get hyped for this event and come for a few days if you can- start putting in your reservations for hotel and PTO from work if needed.\n\nIf you troop 3 days in costume you can get a special coin that is not available outside of this event this is limited and availability is there for only the first 100 troopers that complete this (they go fast!). Last year was amazing and I would love to have more of you come along with me. I will be flying down Oct 4 and staying until the 12th locally with my detachment leader. You will need to figure out your own travel arrangements\, but otherwise you are all welcome to come and you will love everyone you meet at this gigantic world renowned event. SUMMARY:Child Spree
DESCRIPTION:Child Spree is an annual event by Davis Education Foundation to help children in need have the clothing\, shoes\, and backpacks they need to have a strong start on the first day of school. We partner with Kohl’s to take ~300 students in need from grades K-6 back-to-school shopping for the clothing essentials they do not have. \nWe’d love to have characters from the 501st Legion there to meet students while they wait to shop or while they eat breakfast after the event. \nA secure changing location will be available in the store.  Helmets and lightsabers are okay\, blasters or an unknown at this point.  This is an early morning event\, (warning for the night owls out there). \nWe can have a tent there\, if we want.  Otherwise\, it would be a meet and greet type of event. \nEvent Contact:  Cassie Smith (801) 450-7189  casssmith@dsdmail.net

SUMMARY:Layton Light Parade
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate the 24th of July by decking out your costume in lights and joining the fun at the Layton Light Parade.  This short parade starts at Gentile Street and ends at the Park near Layton Surf n Swim. \nCostumers should be in kit and ready to go by 9:30.  The parade starts at 10:00 pm and ends at 10:30 pm.  There is an after party\, where you can either kit down and party like it’s July 24th\, or be done. \nSecure storage and changing area provided at the Parks and Recreation building. \nEvent coordinator is fellow Alpine Garrison member Patrick McCleary who will be kitting up as Vader for this one.
