SUMMARY:La Europa Academy
DESCRIPTION:La Europa Academy is a facility for teenagers working through items such as trauma\, anxiety\, depression\, etc (students are protected under HIPAA).  They are unable to attend events such as FanX so management is putting activities together as their own Comic Convention.  Monday\, May 31st\, is the cosplay day and they would love to see the 501st Legion there.  The format will be a combined meet and greet with pictures\, but also discussions on how costumes are made.   They expect to have between 20 – 40 attendees\, so costume building discussions could be quite detailed\, much like what we did at the last FanX where we had the costume making sessions at the booth. \nLa Europa Academy is following CDC guidelines for Covid-19 and we are requiring masks for troopers and spotters. \nBlasters and lightsabers are okay to bring\, but be prepared that they may ask us to put them away.  A secure storage location for our gear and changing will be available to us. \nEvent Organizer:  Ashley Brough – (901) 619-1990

SUMMARY:May the 5th at Fairview
DESCRIPTION:Fairview wants us back\, with covid precautions. The children will be escorted to the gym to sit on the gymnasium steps while costumers stand on the gym floor a safe distance for social distancing. The classes will come 2 grades at a time in 20 minute increments. We will read to the younger grades and pretend that we are real star wars characters and we will be teaching the older grades about what it’s like being a costumer and volunteer for a non profit organization to help society and answer any of their questions.

SUMMARY:Pack 1456 Cub Scout Pack
DESCRIPTION:MASKS REQUIRED! The event is being held outside to encourage social distancing\, but all attendees and troopers are required to wear masks. Families will be on picnic tables and be sitting as family units.\n\n\nTentative Schedule:\n6:45 till 7pm-Gathering Activity–kids will decorate Star Wars neckerchief slides. We can be in costume already or preparing to be at this point. Need to be ready by the time event begins at 7.\n7:00pm-short flag ceremony\n7:05pm-This is our time to address the scouts. We have been asked to explain how what we do allows us to learn new skills\, allows us to “go on adventures\,” etc. If posible\, we should try and explain how our hobby and passion for costuming encourages the Cub Scout values (trustworthy loyal\, helpful\, friendly\, courteous\, kind obedient\, thrifty\, brave\, clean\, and reverent”)\nWe can go over whatever we like. From there it is up to us if we stay around for pictures.\nRest of the schedule:\n7:30 building– Ewok catapults in their family units (optional)\n7:40 build pool noodle light sabers in their Family units (optional\, probably best to skip this part since we are not allowed to engage in any sparring with the public)\n7:50 playing light saber ultimate tag by den and patrols (LFL guidelines state we CANNOT participate in any sort of lightsaber fighting with the public)\n8:00pm –closing Flag ceremony\n\n\n***Arriving in costume or changing at your vehicle will probably be best for this event. Mapleton North Park only has a 2 stall men’s\, and 2 stall women’s bathroom for changing. There are also 2 open pavilions. If we use any of these we would need a spotter/volunteer assigned to watch over our gear the entire time while costumed attendees attend the event. ***\nEvent Contact: Robert Gower (801) 885-8481

SUMMARY:Urban Arts Gallery
DESCRIPTION:We have another event for the evening of May the 4th at the Urban Arts Gallery at the Gateway.  This one will be much like the Ronald McDonald House event where we can only have 2 costumers per group.  If you have already signed up for another event that day\, please allow others have a chance to troop and to help minimize the risk of virus spread. \nSocial distancing will be enforced and everyone attending the event\, costumers and spotters\, must wear a mask. \nThe Urban Arts Gallery is a non-profit\, but the Gateway is a retail location.  As the retail moratorium has not been lifted costumers must stay in the designated area and not wander around the Gateway.  That is a major point Legion Command made in allowing the event. \nSecure changing/staging area: Yes \nCan troopers carry blasters: Yes \nCan troopers carry/bring props like lightsabers and staffs: Yes \nIs parking available: Yes \nIs venue accessible to those with limited mobility: Yes \nAmenities available at venue: Restrooms\, a large socially distanced changing area and water will be available \nComments: Fundraiser event for Best Seats in the House a charity that provides tickets and activities for families with children with special considerations (health\, economic\, etc) Referred by:  Alpine Garrison \nEvent Contact:  Farris Gerard  801-557-3748

SUMMARY:Ronald McDonald House
DESCRIPTION:A small event for the few families we have on site\, event will be held outside at our park\, changing rooms and storage will be provided. \nTroopers and spotters will be required to undergo a temperature check and rapid COVID test before being allowed on site. I will be honest\, the event will be small as we do not have many families on site due to COVID. We are limiting to 2 costumers for Alpine Garrison and a member of Command will be one of the spotters. \nIf we have other groups who don’t use their allotment of spaces\, we’ll open up more spots \nEvent Coordinator:  Jason Luu

SUMMARY:ARUP Public Blood Drive
DESCRIPTION:Michelle Paul\, our elite Tie Fighter Pilot\, has setup a May the 4th public blood drive.  As with other events in the Salt Lake Metro Area\, we are only allowing two costumers for this event from Alpine Garrison.  If you have already signed up for another event\, please allow others who haven’t the opportunity to troop this one. \nEvent Details: \nSecure changing/staging area: No\nCan troopers carry blasters: Yes\nCan troopers carry/bring props like lightsabers and staffs: Yes\nIs parking available: Yes\nIs venue accessible to those with limited mobility: Yes\nAmenities available at venue: Restrooms are available. Water will also be available\, and we also have gift cards to local restaurants for costumers.\nComments: ARUP Blood Services in Sandy\, Utah\, is a non-profit blood and platelet donation center that is hosting a May the Fourth-themed blood drive. We would like to have Star Wars costumers available to take pictures with donors sometime during donation drive hours\, which are between noon and 7PM. However\, I think we’ll aim for 3PM-6PM as the official event window. \nThis is a public blood drive\, so we aren’t sure the exact number of attendees. Also as this is a medical facility\, we would strongly prefer costumers who have received their COVID-19 vaccine. We will also work to ensure social distancing and can have costumers stationed outside or inside depending on what they’re comfortable with; due to social distancing\, we’d probably need to limit the number of costumers but can be flexible. Also because of pandemic and security precautions\, this would be a change at the car type of event\, but there are single-occupancy restrooms for donors inside the donation area that we can use if needed.\nReferred by: I’m a member of Alpine Garrison\, and I work at this center as a registered nurse.

SUMMARY:Salley Mauro Elementary

SUMMARY:Midway Ice Castles
DESCRIPTION:Best Seat in the House is sponsoring some families to go to the Ice Castles in Midway\, UT and they have asked for a few members of the Alpine Garrison to be there to provide a very memorable experience for those families. This is on President’s Day Holiday. They have asked for a Vader and a couple other troopers (Keeping in mind\, desert characters may not be in their element for this troop). If a Vader is not able to go\, they are good with other characters. We’ll take the first two sign-ups and a Vader or the first three sign-ups if a Vader can’t make it. (I’m not able to attend even though it says I am)\nMasks must be worn by the troopers and there will be a roped off area to ensure social distancing. Other precautions\, it is snow and ice\, cleats on your boots are not only a very good idea\, but a must. I went a couple years ago as Vader and the metal cleats you can attach to your shoes work very well\, the rubber spiked cleats\, not so much. Even then\, be careful as you can still slip and fall.\nSpotters must also wear masks and are not allowed to handle guest’s phones for picture taking. Guests must take their own pictures.\nThe event starts promptly at 11:00 am\, so those attending will need to be kitted up and in place prior to that. Those attending will be able to stay after 12:00 am\, but that is when the public will be allowed in.\nKit up at your car.\nAs Brenda mentioned\, this is a limited character event.\nEvent contact is Farris Gerard\, whom many of us know.

SUMMARY:Austin Make a Wish Drive By
DESCRIPTION:Multiclub event! \nMake-A-Wish Driveby for Austin\nLDS Meetinghouse Parking lot 2900 N 650 E Provo\, UT 84604 \nFriday\, December 11\, 2020 at 10:45 AM MST\nLDS Meetinghouse Parking lot 2900 N 650 E Provo\, UT 84604\nEvent Contact:\nNate Bertasso\nnatebertasso@gmail.com\n801-319-9410\nFrom the event contact (Austin’s Dad):\n“My son Austin is turning 12 on Friday\, Dec 11. As part of his birthday\, we will be receiving his gift through Make-A-Wish here in Utah. They are an amazing charitable organization that has worked hard to bring Austin a shopping spree after his vacation with Make-A-Wish was cancelled because of Covid-19. Austin doesn’t know they are coming on the 11th and doesn’t know how they will be delivered. I was looking for a way to get the presents to him in a fun and memorable way. I thought (obviously last minute) that this might be a way to get it done as Austin is a huge Star Wars fan.\n\nAustin has a severe mitochondrial disease\, but he is such a fun kid. He loves Star Wars (especially the Mandalorian right now). He also loves Fortnite and thinks the crossover is amazing.”\nThis is a Multi-club event (no limits to # of attendees). \nInstructions for attendees:\nPlease arrive early so that we have time to be ready to go exactly at 11 AM. Drivers and costumers will arrive\, get prepared\, and line up in the parking lot. Drivers will need to line their vehicles up to drive by the house with the passenger side facing it. The plan is to meet at the parking lot and when our event contact messages us\, to drive by his house:\nAustin’s Home\n579 E 2780 N\nProvo\, UT 84604\nNo troopers with a full bucket on can drive. They must have a spotter drive them and they will sit on the passenger side. Masks must be worn and social distancing maintained (6 feet) . If you are not feeling well the day of\, please do not attend.\n*** Deadline to sign up is Thursday December 10 at Noon! We want to be able to provide the event contact an estimated number of vehicles and participants attending. Please post here on Thursday the number of possible attendees from your groups so that I (Jakob) can prepare the list for the event contact. ***

The local clubs have discussed this and agree on these restrictions. There is to be no more than 6 costumers kitted up and trooping the event at any given time. Please bring a spotter of your own home/pod to assist you in kitting up\, during the event\, and kitting down if you require a spotter. Costumers will remain behind stanchions while they are trooping to help to maintain social distancing. There are to be no costumers in the store while trooping. Costumers and spotters must wear a mask at all times while in public. Failure to wear a mask/ disregard for this rule will result in not being allowed to sign up for public troops in the future during the pandemic. Spotters and costumers are not allowed to touch any item that the public would hand to them\, including phones to take a picture. Please maintain distance during and after the troop. We know it has been a while\, but safety is paramount to insure we can continue doing this.

SUMMARY:Video Shout Out for Hillside
DESCRIPTION:Hillside Middle School has asked that we get as many members provide video shout-outs to the students of Hillside Middle School for making it through the year. Things that can be said are things like\, “Congratulations on making it through the years!” Or “It’s been quite the year! Way to go in making it through!” Things like that. You can be in kit on in a group shirt holding your helmet or lightsaber. As this is for a school\, we should probably still keep blasters out of the video. Have some fun with it. \nPlease send the video to me (Denney Fifield) on Facebook Messenger\, I’ll put the video together for them. We need the videos by Friday the 22nd so we can get it to the school in time. We’d love to have representation from all the groups.

SUMMARY:Stump the 501st Legion
DESCRIPTION:Clark Planetarium has invited us to participate in their virtual May 4th activity of “Stump the 501st Legion”. During this fun online panel\, we will be asked various questions from those watching to see if they can stump the “experts” (that would be us). A Zoom meeting will be sent out as soon as I get it.\n\n\n \n\n\nThe event starts promptly at 3:00 pm on May 4th\n\n\n \n\n\nKits: So we can answer questions\, we are going to be dressed in our Legion or Garrison racing shirts and have your bucket either in front of you or next to you to show which character you kit up as.\n\n\n \n\n\nLike the FanX event\, a good internet connection and a webcam is needed. Phone cameras or iPad cameras can be used as Zoom will work on those devices.\n\n\n \n\n\nWe have no idea how well this will work out\, but let’s have some fun with it. We are all making this up as we go. 🤪\n\n\n \n\n\nWatch the event Facebook page for updates\n\n\n \n\n\nHere is a link to Clark Planetarium’s virtual events for May the 4th:\n\n\n \n\n\nhttps://www.facebook.com/events/855467641598617/

SUMMARY:FanX May 4th Virtual Panel
DESCRIPTION:FanX has asked us to participate in a virtual panel discussion that will be prerecorded on May 2nd at 5:00 pm. Garrison Command will determine who the Garrison’s spoke person will be\, but anyone who wishes to kit up and be part of the panel may do so. Keep in mind\, you may only be on camera for a few seconds\, but you will need to be in kit the whole time as we don’t know exactly when you will be shown.\nSome key items to be aware of:\n1- Do you have a good quality webcam?\n2- Do you have a good internet connection?\n3- It’s short notice\, can you do it?\n4- More for me than anyone else (I hope)\, do you still fit in your kit?!? 🙂\n5- Be aware of your background of your video and your surroundings. I think we’ve all seen the embarrassing virtual meetings memes out there.\nAs soon as I have the meeting information\, I’ll post it to the event page. \nWe will start the meeting around 30 minutes before we start recording at 5:00 pm to go over any technical issues and to go over some of the questions.
